On May 16-27, 2022, QCAM held it’s first annual QCAM Summer camp at NTU. This two-week workshop was hosted at Navajo Technical University and was led by Co-PI Scott Halliday. 14 students from diverse ethnicities including African American, Native American, and Hispanic students attended the summer camp. In total (5 from PVAMU, 5 from NTU, and 4 from NMSU) and 5 faculty mentors were engaged in Metal AM safety training, Metal AM machine operation on an Optomec MTS500 DED machine, EDM machine operation using a Makino U6, metrology using the FaroArm portable CMM, CT scanning machine operation using the NSI X3000 225kVa and conducting porosity studies using Volume Graphics, materials testing using Instron tensile testing machine and Aramis Digital Imaging Correlation (DIC) system, and microscopy using the Keyence VHX6000 3D printer. 

The specific objectives included introductory hands-on training on various equipment used in metal AM research, to inspire students to continue research in quality control within additive manufacturing, inspire students to work at various NNSA Enterprises; The significant results or key outcomes, including major findings, developments, or conclusions included primarily positive feedback from the students, although they wish it was longer. There was a lot of work packed into the two weeks.
